Here's why you'll get a better workout, have wayyyy more fun, learn more skills faster, gain more confidence, feel better about yourself, get your money's worth and genuinely just have a better time in our Pole Fitness Sessions vs. other pole fitness classes in New England.

FOUR women MAX per class

Why:  If there are more than four students--the Instructor can't give everyone enough of the individual attention  they deserve--and are paying for. We actually care that you learn!

NO pole sharing--ever!

Why: If you have to share a pole with someone you won't get the chance to really 'bond' with the pole and determine how your personal body reacts to it. And, of course, you won't get your money's worth.

ONLY FIVE POLES in our Big Studio

Why:  We could put in ten poles and put as many students in as possible to make a lot of money--but at Gypsy Rose Dancing it's NOT ALL  about the money. I mean sure, as a businesswoman the more money I make for Gypsy Rose Dancing, Inc. the better, but an individual person, Wendy Reardon, I just can't cheat people.  And that's what I'd be doing if I tried to look really cool by installing as many poles as possible--I'd be cheating my clients out of money because NO ONE would be able to get the instruction that they're paying for.

No Mixing Beginners and Advanced-Ever!

Why: That's just stupid.

Every client in every class is always at the same level. It's not fair otherwise because an instructor could just stay with the more advanced people because she likes teaching that better, or vice versa.

Experienced, Talented Instructors

Why: Anyone can teach, but it's having the TALENT TO TEACH that is important.

Wendy is EXTREMELY picky about who teaches for her and chooses only those who have the talent to teach.

Gypsy Rose Instructors are all current or former real exotic dancers--we KNOW how to work the pole because we had to live it.  Wendy herself was an exotic dancer for three years in Los Angeles, almost two years in London, and a few months in Providence. Just because someone has a general dance background and watches a Pole Dancing DVD or can do all kinds of pole tricks and inverts doesn't make them a qualified instructor--they just won't know the minute details needed for proper--and fun--pole instruction.

Wendy has been teaching exclusively Exotic and Pole Dancing for nine years and two of her instructors, Juliana and Veronica, have been teaching with Wendy for 8 years. As a result, we can watch you do a swing and tell you exactly-to the tiniest detail, and there are MANY that less experienced pole instructors won't see-why the swing did or didn't work. Therefore you are able to learn more in a shorter period of time.

Beware pole instructors who are too young, inexperienced, skinny, and full of muscles.

They simply don't understand the physics of bodies different than their own, and what it takes to get women with those bodies swinging around the pole, climbing, inverting, and--most importantly--feeling good about themselves after class!  (Note: If your biceps hurt when you swing around the pole or your inverting doesn't feel graceful--you are NOT being taught properly!)

'Real Women' Instructors

Why: All Gypsy Rose Instructors, as 'real' women ourselves (albeit very toned) understand how to teach other 'real' women  the Art of Pole Dancing.

Wendy herself is 40 and has fluctuated from size 12 to size 6 in the past ten years (happily settling around 8), and so she can not only relate to all ages and sizes of women but she cares enough to take your individual body features into consideration when teaching YOU (another benefit of our small classes).

A Pole swing that works one way with one student's body may not work for yours, so we will modify the swing specifically for you.

The ENTIRE HOUR is teaching

Why:  We don't spend 15 minutes of an hour class stretching and warming up. Yes, you should stretch, but we ask you to do that before you get to the studio or arrive 15 minutes early to do it. You're paying us to teach you to pole dance, not to stretch.

No Frivolous Crap

Why:  We're not going to waste valuable class time teaching stupid stuff (like walking around the pole 25 times, turning, and dipping your head back) -- that's just a sneaky way for a pole studio to drag out  class sessions--and ultimately make you pay more--so the company makes a bigger profit.  In your first class you learn an Ankle Swing and two, possibly three airborne pole swings. We get right to it. No messing around.

We. Don't. Teach. Just. Dry. Single. Pole. Moves

Why: We don't just teach you move-move-move, we teach you how to put it together to get a full body workout when you dance to your own song, because your music is EVERYTHING. With a song that motivates you you can get an AMAZING cardio workout along with muscle toning all over. And it's wayyyyyyyyyyyyy more fun!

No Choreographed Pole "Routines"

Why: That is much too restricting. We teach you our basics---we want you to throw your personality into it. You don't need to do stuff just EXACTLY like us, because as long as it looks good, that's all we care about. This way you're not stuck doing some silly choreographed routine that everyone else is doing, and that may not fit in with your song when you dance (at the studio, at home, or wherever). Plus, you'd be thinking about the step-by-step routine, NOT how your song makes your body move-that's what's important!

No Frolicking Deer, Fuzzy Raccoons, Cuddly Chipmunks, or Happy Singing Bunnies

Why: We're not concerned about being nice and polite and telling you what you want to hear---We tell it like it is...MWAHAHHAAA!!!

Our Instructors don't just teach a move and go on to the next one. Oh noooo....you'll do your move until they are happy! Also you don't tell us what you did wrong in a move, we will tell you. And believe me, we will. No BS here.

This is because again, we actually DO care that each individual student learns. We care, we really, honestly care. **Wendy's eyes well up with tears as she is overcome with emotion** (okay not really tearing up but we're also allll about the drama! Teeheeee!)

Slightly More Expensive than Other Pole Studios

Why: You get what you pay for.

Wear whatever you'd like

Why: Because you have to be able to move around the pole comfortably. You can wear sweatpants and a t-shirt, workout clothing, or even just shorts and tank top.  However, if you want to throw some 'sassy' into your pole workout and feel differently both physically and emotionally, we offer very secure, stable, and comfortable platform boots in all sizes (you MUST wear OUR sweat-proof socks with our boots), and  a costume room full of clean crazy clubwear you could borrow if you REALLY want to step out of your every-day life. As far as shoes, boots protect your feet so you won't have to worry about bashing them on the pole while you're learning, but you can also wear your own heels, sneakers, sandals, or even go barefoot.  We don't care what you wear, as long as you wear something.

Practice Time

Why: Because it's fun! We rent out our smaller studio to students enrolled in any of our Sessions for practice time at $15/hour, no instruction (subject to availability) to come in, play around on the poles, and let your imagination run wild!

Remember:  Pole Dancing is Not About the Pole...It's  About You.™
